Starting a business can be an exciting and terrifying venture both at the same time. Whilst you know there will be hard work ahead, you are solely focused on the end goal to be a successful, self-sufficient business owner. However, while the path ahead may (or may not) be paved with gold, here are some commonly mistaken myths about creating a successful business which may help put things into perspective a little, and help you on your way.
For many people, working for themselves is a life-long dream. Choosing when and where to work, being able to fit in family life and freedom from workplace politics are all common reasons given for going it alone. So, if you have a big idea and the drive to take it further, what could be better than starting your own business?
So you’ve decided to set up your own business. You’ve done your business plan, SWOT and marketing analysis, decided on what your core products or services are going to be and how you are going to promote and sell them. The final piece of the jigsaw is a company name. Whether you business is online or more traditional, its name is more important than you might think. It has to be unique and not infringe any copyright. It has to be memorable and perhaps most importantly, it has to be the very essence of your business as it is from your name (and possibly tag-line) that your brand will develop.
