She’s virtual, but admin marvel Michelle is a real live double-winning wonder woman

Glasgow businesswoman Michelle Smith is getting used to winning ways. The Scottish sensation started her good run when she scooped the honours as Virtual Assistant of the Year for Scotland in October, and scored a double whammy when she was crowned UK Virtual Assistant of the year last week.
ValueAdd Business Solutions founder Michelle beat off stiff competition from the UK virtual assistant community to scoop the prestigious BeMYVA sponsored award at the Beaumont Estate Hotel in Old Windsor.
Recognition for Michelle’s outstanding work as the founder and director of her business support services company ValueAdd Business Solutions made her a clear favourite with the panel of judges. As part of a growing community of businesses providing administration and financial management services to other companies, Michelle’s superb skills were recognised as being simply the best.
After scooping the national UK title at the grand finals of the VA of Year awards ceremony Michelle said, “I passionately believe that efficient admin and finance systems must be at the core of every organisation to ensure their success and survival. Virtual assistant companies like mine provide other small business owners with a level of financial and administrative support which was previously only enjoyed by larger corporations. It’s a win-win situation.”

And now it’s win-win for Michelle too. Securing the double accolade signals real success for this vivacious Scottish entrepreneur and her thriving business. But she was always confident that her virtual business would make a real mark. When Michelle started ValueAdd Business Solutions in 2011, she already knew there was plenty of scope to support ambitious entrepreneurs who were keen to grow their businesses, but who were struggling to keep on top of their admin and books.
As Michelle points out, “There are huge advantages for business to use virtual assistants like me. It’s simple…we take the weight off. We do the paperwork and the books, and we do them really, really well. Not only do we save time, and reduce the admin burden for small businesses, but we save money too. Businesses can use us just when they need us – we’re virtual, not on the payroll.”
Michelle’s own VA specialities are bookkeeping and social media management, and when it comes to bookkeeping she’s a woman on a mission. With ValueAdd Business Solutions, this accomplished number-cruncher helps get her clients’ heads out of the sand to plan for a secure financial future.
After a whirlwind month for the newly crowned UK VA of the year, it’ll soon be time for Michelle to get back to virtual business. But in the meantime, this well-worthy winner is enjoying the limelight and all the attention the awards have brought her thriving Glasgow-based business.
Just don’t be too surprised if this superb Scottish businesswoman goes on to even bigger and better success.
