Here’s something nobody tells you when you hire a bookkeeper.
The quality of what they produce depends partly on you.
Think of it like a personal trainer. They can write the best programme in the world but if their client only shows up half the time, the results won’t reflect the plan.
Bookkeeping works exactly the same way.
The clients who get the most from their bookkeeper do a few simple things consistently.
- They send receipts promptly.
- They respond to queries quickly.
- They ask questions when something isn’t clear.
- And they trust the process.
That’s genuinely it.
This works both ways…You should expect your bookkeeper to respond to you promptly. To explain things clearly without hiding behind jargon. To tell you when something is straightforward and when it genuinely needs careful handling. You should never feel like a small client. Or an inconvenient one. If you do — that’s worth paying attention to.
